California Department of Water Resources

The California Department of Water Resources (DWR), established in 1956, is dedicated to managing and protecting California’s water resources. DWR's mission is to sustainably manage the water resources of California, in cooperation with other agencies, to benefit the state’s people and protect, restore, and enhance the natural and human environments. The main office is located in Sacramento, with regional offices across the state, and it provides services encompassing water supply, flood protection, management of the State Water Project, and environmental stewardship programs.
